Kickstart for motorcycle sales in 2024

So far, 2,479 new engines have already been registered in the Netherlands since the beginning of 2024. This is an increase of 12.8% compared to the months of January and February last year. The increase over February alone is as much as 25%! So say the figures from RAI Association, BOVAG and RDC.

Popularity of motorcycling rises

It is safe to say that motorcycling is gaining strong popularity. It is an unprecedented jump in sales. The number of motorcycle license exams taken in 2023 also rose sharply. Notable among these is that many younger people under 35 are going for the A license. That most certainly explains the sales spurt at the beginning of 2024. Which, by the way, dovetails well with the increase in sales already initiated in 2023.

Most sold motorcycle brands February 2024

The top 5 best-selling motorcycle brands in February 2024 lists Kawasaki, Yamaha, BMW, Honda and Suzuki, respectively. Kawasaki leads the dance comfortably with a hefty 17.9 percent market share, with the Kawasaki Z900 once again continuing to score strongly. The Yamaha MT-07 is the top-selling model with 73 registrations, followed by the BMW R 1250 GS and BMW R 1300 GS in places two and three. In fourth place is the aforementioned Kawasaki Z900 and in fifth place is the Kawasaki Z650.
