Kia PV5 stands on E-GMP.S platform

Kia’s PBVs will be built on the modular E-GMP.S platform, a specially developed skateboard platform that allows for lots of versions and body styles. Kia is initially targeting the introduction of the Kia PV5 and has plans to launch the compact PV1 and the larger PV7 in the coming years. To produce these modular commercial vehicles, the brand has built the new EVO Plant, a specialized PBV plant with a flexible production process.

Android Automotive OS

Kia is further introducing an infotainment system based on Android Automotive OS (AAOS) that will be fully integrated into PBV models. Thanks to continuous over-the-air (OTA) updates, the system always remains current and new features can be easily added. The PV5 is equipped with extra-large displays: a 7.5-inch digital instrument panel and a 12.9-inch infotainment screen. A Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function has also been considered.

Battery packs

All versions of the Kia PV5 offer a choice of a 51.5 kWh or a 71.2 kWh “cell-to-pack” battery system, where the cells are integrated directly into the battery pack for optimal efficiency. In mid-2026, the PV5 Cargo will also be available with a 43.3 kWh battery pack. The front-mounted electric motor produces 120 kW (164 hp) and 250 Nm of torque. With the 71.2 kWh battery, depending on the version, the PV5 has a range of up to 400 km (WLTP) and can be charged from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes.

The versatility of the modular platform on which Kia’s first PBV is built is well reflected in the PV5 Cargo-based Chassis Cab. This model, in which the chassis behind the cab offers free space for interpretation – from (cargo) box to camper body – is technically similar to the PV5 Cargo. The rear has a flat structure with side impact protection for the battery and additional mounting brackets for attaching cargo boxes (such as an open or closed cargo box).
