March 1, 2025

Kia PV5: mModularbody and various variants

The Kia PV5 is offered in three basic versions: Passenger, Cargo and Chassis Cab. Thanks to the E-GMP.S platform architecture, Kia can easily realize various vehicle configurations. In addition to the standard versions, conversion models include the Crew, Drop Side, Box Van, Freezer Box, Prime and Light Camper. There will also be a Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV), which is Kia’s response to the need for accessible transportation.

Innovations in design and production

Kia’s new PBV strategy rests on three pillars: product, production and software. The E-GMP.S platform utilizes a skateboard structure, which provides a flat base on which different bodies can be built. The integrated modular architecture (IMA) ensures standardized battery and engine components, which reduces development time and costs.

To further optimize production, Kia is opening a special PBV plant called EVO Plant. Here both standard models and custom conversions will be manufactured. In addition, Kia is developing a conversion center where custom vehicles will be produced and fully covered by the Kia warranty.

Versions of the Kia PV5

Kia PV5 Passenger

The Kia PV5 Passenger is designed for both private and business use. The three rows of seats can be configured for luggage or camping purposes. In the 2-3-0 layout, the first two rows act as seats, while the third row offers a spacious luggage compartment. A flat load floor and folding seats make this version especially flexible.

Kia has collaborated with Uber to optimally tailor the PV5 to the needs of ride-hailing services. This makes the PV5 suitable for different Uber categories and provides solutions to the daily challenges of drivers and passengers.

Kia PV5 Cargo

The Kia PV5 Cargo is available in three variants: Standard, Long and High Roof. The High Roof also comes as a Walk-Through version, which increases accessibility. Maximum cargo space is 5.1 m³, enough for two Euro pallets. A low step-in height of 419 mm makes loading and unloading easier.

For added flexibility, Kia offers an optional L-track lashing system in the cargo area. This system allows cargo to be safely secured. There is also a Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) feature that allows electrical devices to be powered from within the vehicle.

Kia PV5 Chassis Cab

The Kia PV5 Chassis Cab was developed as a base vehicle for various conversions, from Drop Side to Freezer Box. A flat rear structure with additional mounting points allows easy installation of superstructures. The overall length of 4,525 mm provides ample room for modifications, making this variant ideal for a variety of business applications.

Technology and connectivity

The Kia PV5 features a 7-inch digital instrument panel and a 12.9-inch navigation screen. The infotainment system runs on Android Automotive OS and supports a wide range of business applications. Over-the-Air (OTA) updates keep the system up-to-date, while Digital Key 2.0 facilitates access via NFC, Bluetooth and Ultra-Wideband technology.

In addition, the PV5 features an advanced fleet management system. Kia collects and analyzes vehicle data to enable predictive maintenance, which increases uptime and reduces maintenance costs.

Durable materials

The PV5’s interior combines durable and easy-to-clean materials with modular storage solutions. Kia introduces “Kia AddGear,” a system that allows users to customize the interior space with modular accessories. This makes the PV5 suitable not only for transportation, but also for recreational and business use.

The seats are upholstered in Bio Polyurethane (PU) and the floors are made of thermoplastic olefin (TPO), a more durable and low-maintenance alternative to traditional PVC. Interior color options include Deep Navy, Dove Gray, Espresso Brown, Terracotta Brown and Iceberg Green.

Sales and availability Kia EV5

The Kia PV5 will be launched in Korea and Europe in the second half of 2025. Rollout in other markets will follow in 2026. Conversion models will enter production in phases between 2025 and 2026. Pre-orders for the Korean and European markets will open in the first half of 2025.

With the introduction of the PV5, Kia takes an important step in the evolution of light commercial vehicles. Thanks to its modular design, advanced EV technology and smart manufacturing processes, the PV5 offers a flexible and future-proof solution for a variety of mobility needs.
