Not the first EV ever
The Kia EV6 is not the first EV to call itself Car of the Year. In 2019, the Jaguar I-Pace won as an electric car. In the years since, cars have won that are available with a (partly) electric drive. The Peugeot 208 won the prize in 2020 and the Toyota Yaris took the prize in 2021.
“Excellent EV”, according to the jury
The Kia EV6 is praised for its sporty character, range and ultra-fast charging that can also be found in the much more expensive Porsche Taycan and Audi E-Tron GT. The interior, sportiness and balance of the car were the deciding factors for the jury to choose the EV6 over the Ioniq 5 , Hyundai’s equivalent.
