Hyundai pulls it off again: Ioniq 6 is World Car of the Year

At the New York International Auto Show, the Hyundai Ioniq 6 claimed the title of World Car of the Year 2023. The model was declared the winner by a jury of 100 automotive journalists from 32 countries. The Korean competed against the Mazda CX-60, Kia Niro, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Nissan Ariya, Alfa Romeo Tonale and BMW 2 Series Coupe and X1.
Three prizes
But the party doesn’t end there for the Ioniq 6. The sleek EV also won the “World Electric Vehicle” and “World Car Design of the Year” categories. Last year, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 picked up the same three awards. Sister company Kia walked away with the win in the “World Performance Car” category. The lightning-fast EV6 beat the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Nissan Z, BMW M4 CSL and the Toyota GR Corolla. The Lucid Air has been voted “World Luxury Car” and the Citroën C3 may call itself “World Urban Car.
