Golf GTI: this costs the last peppered Golf
The last traditional Golf GTI?
Little is yet known about the future of the Golf.
Volkswagen boss Thomas Schäfer has already hinted at a possible ID.Golf, which we can expect around 2026.
The letters “ID” suggest that the next Golf will be electrically powered.
This means that the now-revamped Golf GTI is likely to be the last new gasoline GTI we will ever see.
Less than 6 seconds
If this is indeed the last gasoline-powered Golf GTI, Volkswagen is closing the chapter in style.
Under the hood of the updated Golf GTI is a 2.0 TSI turbocharged gasoline engine that delivers 195 kW (265 hp), 20 hp more than the pre-facelift model.
Power goes to the front wheels via a seven-speed DSG transmission.
The German hot hatch sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, with a limited top speed of 250 km/h.
A worthy finale for the iconic GTI.
Lots of goodies
The new Golf GTI has a hefty price but comes standard with a lot of nice touches, such as dark tinted windows, 3-zone Climatronic air conditioning, heated seats and steering wheel, Keyless Access and advanced driving assistance systems such as Travel Assist.
The ‘Discover Media’ infotainment system with 32.8 cm touchscreen and ChatGP integration are also present.
Inside, you’ll also find sport seats – with a diamond pattern, of course – a black headliner and a leather sports steering wheel with red stitching.
On the outside, of course, you will recognize the updated model by the iconic red stripe in the grille, along with 17-inch alloy wheels, sporty bumpers and IQ.Light matrix LED headlights.
The GTI look is completed by the honeycomb grille and distinctive roof spoiler.
Prices, as mentioned, start at 61,990 euros.
The first examples will be delivered from September.
