Ford Ranger PHEV makes pickup affordable for everyone?

September 16, 2024

Electrical power

The Ranger PHEV is equipped with a 2.3-liter EcoBoost gasoline engine, combined with a 75 kW (102 hp) electric motor and an 11.8 kWh battery.
This produces 205 kW (279 hp) and an impressive 690 Nm of torque – more than any other Ranger has ever had.
With an all-electric range of over 45 kilometers, you can do most daily commutes completely emission-free.

The same Ranger, but greener

Its functionality has remained the same, according to Ford.
With a towing capacity of up to 3,500 kg and a load capacity of one ton, you won’t have to worry much about heavy loads.
Off-road adventures are also still possible, thanks to all-wheel drive.
The Ranger PHEV offers several driving modes, including an all-electric mode, so you can decide when to drive on gasoline or power.

Tools

The rugged PHEV can also provide power.
Various power points allow you to power electrical devices on the go or on location, such as tools on a construction site or a refrigerator for a picnic in nature.

Stormtrak

Ford introduces the Ranger PHEV with the exclusive Stormtrak edition.
This edition stands out with its rugged design, including 18-inch alloy wheels and a distinctive grille.
Inside, you’ll enjoy luxurious details like a premium audio system and a deft dashboard.
There are nice gadgets, such as a 360-degree camera and Pro Trailer Backup Assist, making it easy to maneuver with a trailer.

Prices

The high CO2 emissions and associated bpm penalty make pickup trucks in the Netherlands basically unaffordable for ordinary consumers.
But with an economical plug-in hybrid powertrain, that problem is a thing of the past.
Ford is not yet releasing the prices of the Ranger PHEV, but it is bound to be substantially cheaper than traditional Ranger due to a PHEV powertrain.

This is also nice for business owners, as they will have to pay bpm for fuel-engine commercial vehicles starting in 2025.
So Ford’s timing couldn’t be better in that regard.
In fact, Ford expects to deliver the first examples of the Ranger PHEV in 2025.
In the spring, to be exact.
