Ford Mustang Mach 4: Mustang sedan on the way?
Rumor or reality?
It had been rumored for some time that more Mustang variants were on the way following the electric Mustang Mach-E.
Now that seems to be a reality.
At a private meeting, where phones and cameras were strictly forbidden, American dealers recently got a glimpse of what’s in the pipeline.
The big surprise?
A four-door Mustang, rumored to be named Mach 4.
A playful nod to both the amount of doors and the iconic Mach line.
Family expansion
Although Ford has never officially built a four-door Mustang before, the introduction of the all-electric Mustang Mach-E opened the door to new variants.
Okay, the Mach-E is technically a very different beast from the classic Mustang, but it does show that Ford is serious about expanding the Mustang family.
Incidentally, Ford showed other Mustang variants at the meeting, including a rugged off-road version, complete with raised ride height and off-road tires.
There was also a spirited EcoBoost Mustang, tuned by RTR, as well as a powerful convertible with a V8 and manual transmission on the program.
Now it remains to be seen which models will make it to the production phase….
