Ford E-Transit Courier: Ford’s smallest van is bigger than ever
Ford E-Transit Courier
The Ford E-Transit and E-Transit Custom have added a little electric brother: the E-Transit Courier. The van is on a modified base of the Puma and Fiesta. So it is clean and compact and therefore very suitable for city-friendly parcel delivery. But make no mistake, the newcomer may be compact, but it can move a lot of stuff. This is the first time a Transit Courier can carry two europallets. Total cargo volume comes to 2.9 m3, 25 percent more than the outgoing model. The maximum payload of the E-Transit Courier is 700 kg, with a maximum trailer weight of 750 kg.
Office on Wheels
In the interior, there is also more room for the driver. For example, the steering wheel has a “squircle” design, providing more legroom and better visibility for the driver ahead. Also clever: there is more storage space in the interior because the gear lever is on the steering column and a large handbrake lever has been replaced by an electronic handbrake. In the handy category: the Office Pack, which includes a folding flat work surface and lighting. So you can easily work on your laptop in your car, fill out some paperwork or just consume your sandwich with cheese at lunch. On the dashboard, by the way, you will encounter a 12-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch infotainment system.
Performance
Details on full performance and range will be announced by Ford in the run-up to market launch, but we already know that a 136-hp electric motor will provide propulsion. How much charging power it can handle at a fast charger is also known: 100 kW. 10 minutes of charging is expected to result in 87 kilometers of additional driving range. Charging the battery from 10 to 80 percent of capacity is expected to take less than 35 minutes. It can charge at home or at work thanks to a 3-phase cordless charger up to 11 kW. A full charging session then takes just under six hours.
Gasoline and diesel
The market introduction of the Ford E-Transit Courier will take place in 2024. There will also be gasoline (100 and 125 hp) and diesel (100 hp) versions of the new Transit Courier. These can be ordered from the second half of this year and will be delivered to the first customers in early 2024.
