For your calendar! Suzuki V-STROM 800DE
Because tomorrow, Saturday, April 15, 2023, the new Suzuki V-STROM 800DE rolls into the showroom at all dealers of this brand. The latest addition to Suzuki’s adventure range and certainly not the least. It is perhaps the most richly equipped mid-range V-STROM ever. For an all-around manageable price starting at 12,699 euros and with a whopping 6-year warranty. Because Suzuki has been using that term for all its models since this year.
V-Strom 800DE
The V-STROM 800DE features the new 776cc parallel-twin 270° crankshaft and the patented Suzuki Cross Balancer mechanism, which eliminates vibration. A Bi-directional (up & down) quickshifter is standard. The powerplant is good for an output of 61 kW (82.9 hp) at 8,500 rpm and 78 Nm of torque at 6,800 rpm. A variant for A2 license holders is also available with 35 kW (47.5 hp).
Suspension and frame
A steel frame and lightweight aluminum swingarm along with a 21-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel provide excellent stability and maneuverability. The SHOWA adjustable front and rear suspension offers long suspension travel of 220 mm. Thanks to adjustable ABS (in two positions) and Traction Control (four positions), the V-STROM 800DE can also be optimally adjusted for riding on untraveled trails. The ABS on the rear brake (260 mm) is also disengageable and so is the Traction Control. Up front, there are two 310-mm diameter brake discs.
Gravel mode
Thanks to the special Gravel mode (G-mode), the motorcycle also remains manageable and provides the desired power delivery to explore dirt roads and trails with more confidence. In addition, there are three driving modes for street use: Active, Basic and Comfort. In OFF mode, there is no intervention from driving aids, which is ideal for off-road purists.
Helpful aids
The Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) with slipper function provides light clutch control and prevents rear wheel slipping or bouncing when downshifting. Thanks to the Suzuki Easy Start System, all it takes is the push of a button to start the engine. The Low RPM Assist feature slightly increases the engine’s RPM when the clutch lever is released to drive off smoothly from a standstill, even on a slope.
LED lighting
The 5-inch color TFT display is clearly readable and provides real-time information on engine status. On the left side of the multifunction dash is a 5-volt USB connector for charging a navigation system or smartphone. Standard equipment also includes LED lighting. Optional top and side panniers are available.
Windshield adjustable
The short windshield maximizes visibility and protection when riding on country roads and gravel trails. The screen is also adjustable in three positions, in 15-mm increments. Furthermore, the V-STROM 800DE is equipped with hand guards, wide footpegs with rubber blocks, a luggage rack with integrated passenger grips, radiator protection and a plastic sump guard.
Available colors
The Suzuki V-STROM 800DE is available with a choice of three different color combinations. Iconic is the yellow-blue combination, this color – Champion Yellow – provides a nice contrast to the dark blue side panels. Another option is the combination of the gray Glass Mat Gray and yellow accents on the front. Both color schemes are inspired by Suzuki’s rich motorcycle history. The third color combination consists of the black Glass Sparkle Black and dark blue side panels. This makes the V-STROM 800DE look tough and aggressive.
