Flying engine with Maserati V8, how?

July 31, 2024

Lazareth Moto (founded in 2019) does something that others think is impossible.
A moped with rocket propulsion or a motorized raft are some examples of its bizarre creations.
At the Geneva Motor Show a few years ago, the LM 847 shone: a motorcycle with a 470-hp Maserati V8.
Officially it is a quad, because it has four wheels but they are practically shoulder to shoulder.
So on the face of it, it is more like a motorcycle.

From imagination to results

The man behind Lazareth Moto is Ludovic Lazareth.
A designer who received his training at the Espace Sbarro school and, after completing it, started working on his own.
A computer is not involved.
Nazareth designs and builds his creations 1 : 1, from imagination to tangible result.
He seeks, as he himself describes it, the impossible.

Lazareth and Batcycle

You may remember the Batcycle from the Batman movies.
In the movie, that’s a computer-generated machine.
So it’s not real, it’s an animation, but Lazareth did recreate the Batcycle in real life, with a 1,000cc V-twin engine.

Lazareth LM 410

It was the prelude to the Lazareth LM 410.
Sleeker in appearance and much lighter than the 400 kg of the LM 847.
The 410 weighs barely 2oo kg and in the frame hangs a Yamaha R1 engine.
Weight and power are halved, performance is not.
Despite the four wheels, Lazareth Moto also claims better handling for the LM 410.
In any case, you can get through corners easier and flatter.

Or rather the sky

A step up, literally, is the Moto Volante.
At the base of this flying motorcycle is the Maserati V8 block.
However, the four tires are extremely narrow and actually not up to the horsepower of the eight-cylinder.
Therefore, the narrow tires do not play a leading role for locomotion.
At the push of a button, the Moto Volante sets itself up on a kind of large center stand and then the wheels tilt.
In the rims are jet engines, which lift the machine into the air.
In effect, then, this is a motorcycle drone.

Business model

By the way, Lazareth Moto makes its money by building specials for customers who want a special and unique creation of an existing motorcycle.
If you look at Lazareth Moto’s site, you will see numerous examples of this in the gallery.
Also trikes and quads and conversions based on Mini cars.
