The brand-new BYD factory will be located in Szeged, a city in southern Hungary. This facility will produce not only cars, but also batteries. BYD is making history as the first Chinese automaker to build a plant in Europe. This move marks another step in the automaker’s ambitious goal of becoming Europe’s largest car retailer.
European stage
BYD has been hitting the gas in a big way since its European debut in 2022. In a fairly short period of time, they opened 230 locations in 19 countries. They also launched five new models: the BYD Han, Tang, Atto 3, Seal and Dolphin. Behind the scenes, three more new models are ready to make their appearance in the next 12 months.
