Finally an entry-level model that’s not boring: this is the new cheaper ID.3
Black Edition
An entry-level car doesn’t have to be boring, they think at Volkswagen. The ID.3 Black Edition is henceforth the cheapest ID.3 and a bit the tough brother (or sister) of the family. For 34,990 euros you get an ID.3 with a dark edge: black rims (19 inches), a black roof and black mirror caps. Inside, you just get the big touchscreen and you can connect your phone wirelessly. Handy features like Lane Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control are also on hand. So what was saved on? The powertrain: you get the smallest battery (52 kWh), which means you have to make do with 387 WLTP kilometers. Fine to live with in the Netherlands, but perhaps less suitable for vacations. In terms of power, you have to make do with 125 kW (170 hp), while more expensive versions with 150 kW (204 hp) or 240 kW (326 hp) are on the way.
Pure Business
Are you more into comfort and luxury? Then there’s the ID.3 Pure Business, starting at 36,990 euros. This shares the engine and battery with the Black Edition (so also that 170 hp and 387 WLTP-km range), but adds some extras. Think metallic paint, the “Discover Pro” navigation system (also with that big screen), heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. Oh yeah, a rearview camera is also standard. Now should you want to combine the looks of the Black Edition with the extras of the Pure Business, you can choose a Black Edition package at no extra cost.
