Father and son from Gelderland build 45-meter miniature race track!
Out of control corona project
Mika and Marco describe the project as a corona project that got out of hand. “There is nothing better than working on a project together with your son. Besides, this way Mika gets to know things like soldering, drilling, sawing and gluing,” says father Marco proudly.
Emotions by corona
Father Marco sues versus Omroep Gelderland: “I watched with sorrow as Mika crawled further and further into his shell during the corona lockdowns. It still makes me emotional when I think about it. We used to do a lot of fun things together and then suddenly we had nowhere to go. It made me feel really guilty that we were sitting at home all the time. That didn’t sit well with me at all, so then I thought, we really have to do something.”
Miniature race track of 45 meters
On Sundays, the duo drove together to the construction site of the 45-meter-long miniature racetrack. “Marco: “We would get an app from the home front at eight o’clock at night if we were still coming home for dinner, which was just great!”
Finished to the finest detail
According to the construction duo, most of the time went into realizing all the lampposts as they had to be soldered piece by piece. The miniature race track is finished to the finest detail. The result is accessible to all. Marco: “Just for father and son, or groups of friends who want to come and race. Be welcome!”
