EuroNCAP: Chinese do excellent, but Tesla Model Y is an outlier! – VIDEO
Tesla Model Y 2022 Safety Score
The Tesla Model Y in particular managed to complete the EuroNCAP safety test very well, with the American all-electric crossover even scoring almost top marks on some parts. The Model Y scored 97 percent in the Adult Occupant category, 87 percent for the Child Occupant category, 82 percent in pedestrian safety and 98 percent in driver assistance systems. So all in all, an excellent score. Good for five stars, the maximum achievable.
Safety score Kia Niro 2022
EuroNCAP also tested the new Kia Niro. That one gets a total of four stars. According to the crash-testing body, the model leaves some points on pedestrian safety (75 percent) and Safety Assist (60 percent). The Kia Niro did record a score of 91 percent in the Adult Occupant category and 84 percent for the Child Occupant category. With extensive (optional) safety equipment, by the way, the new Kia Niro does score five stars. But extra security therefore costs extra money.
