Dutch largest graffiti company transforms BMW M2 CS Racing into graffiti artwork

Art Car

Since 1975, BMWs have been taken in hand by artists. American Alexander Calder started the tradition with a BMW 3.0 CSL: the Art Car. Later, artists such as Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein also went wild on models from the German automaker. In the beginning, only race cars were fitted with exciting artwork, because a car with only sponsorships looks a bit boring. Later, street cars came to be used as moving works of art. There are now 20 official BMW Art Cars designed by different artists. Just recently, famous artist Jeff Koons decorated a brand new BMW 8 Series.

But an official BMW Art Car is unfortunately hard to come by. Let’s just say it’s impossible. Of the iconic cars, only one is ever made. Only with the latest creation by Jeff Koons do you have a small chance. Of the BMW THE 8 X JEFF KOONS, as the model now goes through life, 99 will be made. Cheap they are not, as they come with a price tag of 350,000 euros. Aai, that’s a bit of a swallow!

Graffitifun

Fortunately, you don’t have to be a millionaire to have a driving work of art in front of your house. This is proven by the BMW M2 painted by an artist from Graffitifun. The artist team is the largest graffiti provider in Europe with over 32 artists and has been spreading their love of graffiti for almost 20 years. Not only by painting boring, gray walls in their spare time, but also by giving exclusive graffiti workshops and creating graffiti murals on behalf of clients. This can be in the craziest of locations and sometimes with unusual objects as a canvas, like the BMW M2 CS Racing you see in the photos. Graffitifun also has its own unique graffiti spray can label, works internationally and is a well-known in this art scene.

Colorful

Graffitifun has gone wild on the fast German two-door coupe with a DIY load of spray cans. The entire car was commissioned by Raceplanet with colorful graffiti and some tags by the artist Sket185. Graffiti may seem easy, but it is harder than it looks. If you don’t know what you’re doing, you’ll end up with a car full of runny paint streaks and unrecognizable art. You can call that your own style, of course, but it’s more fun if you really know how to make something of it. That is why the artists of Graffifun also give workshops, in which they explain the technique of the spray can and what distance you should keep when spraying. This allows you to turn even challenging objects, such as a car full of curves, into a real work of art. The nice thing is: because the car is hand-painted, it is a unique art car, of which there is no second driving around.

365 hp

The BMW M2 CS Racing in question is an extra peppery BMW M2 CS, which is not allowed on public roads. This blue racing monster feels more at home at Circuit Zandvoort. For the fast toy, BMW M Motorsport is asking 95,000 euros. Under the hood is a 3.0-liter six-in-line, good for at least 280 hp. In the pit box you can tune it to your liking and tickle it to about 400 hp. Via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, all the power reaches the rear wheels.
