Digibits better leave the new NIO EL7 in place

NIO is rapidly expanding its model range in Europe and also in the Netherlands. After the ET7 sedan, it is now the turn of the EL7, a hefty SUV. An ET5 – one size smaller compared to the ET7 – will follow later in 2023. The EL7 has a braked towing weight of up to 2,000 kg. The electrically retractable towbar with Trailer Mode is part of the standard equipment.

Powertrain NIO EL7

The 4,912 mm long NIO EL7 has a Dual-Motor Smart AWD powertrain with a 180 kW permanent magnet motor at the front and a 300 kW induction motor at the rear for a combined output of 480 kW (653 hp) and maximum torque of 850 Nm. The driving range comes out to 513 kilometers (WLTP) if the buyer opts for a 100 kWh battery pack and 20-inch rims). NIO also supplies a 75 kWh battery. In sport+ mode, the SUV sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.

The interior of the EL7 shares great similarities with the ET7. So sleek and clean and plenty of room for large displays. NIO is fully committed to tech. So amenities such as an ultra-long-range high-resolution LiDAR, seven 8MP high-resolution cameras, four 3MP light-sensitive cameras, an ADMS (Advanced Driver Monitoring System), five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, GPS, IMU, and HOD are bound to make techies’ hearts beat faster.

Luggage space

The EL7 also has the AI assistant NOMI, a 7.1.4 sound system with Dolby Atmos panoramic sound technology, a 12.8-inch Amoled central control screen, AR and VR technology and Smart Air Suspension. The luggage compartment has a maximum volume of 658 liters. With the rear seats folded down, the luggage compartment has a depth of up to 1,880 mm.

Subscribe or buy

The first three purchasers of the NIO EL7 have opted for the NIO Subcription subscription model. This includes maintenance, repair, insurance, depreciation and winter tires. In combination with NIO Subscription, the customer can always use battery changing technology. Changing the battery can be done in a so-called NIO Power Swap Stations. Several stations are already operational in the Netherlands.

Buying the car in a normal way is not a problem either. The car costs 76,900 euros, excluding battery but with subscription. Including battery, the EL7 can be driven from 88,900 euros. There is a choice of three different interior themes, 21-inch alloy wheels and seven body paints.
