Deep valleys, high peaks: Hyundai grabs special Guinness World Record!
From high to low
The adventure began high in the Himalayas, at Umling La. This mountain pass is known as the highest passable road in the world, located a whopping 5,799 meters above sea level. From there, the Ioniq 5 drove to the Indian state of Kerala, a place 3 meters below sea level. In doing so, the car covered an altitude difference of a whopping 5,802 meters. And that in 14 days, over a route of 4,956 kilometers.

Extreme conditions
During the trip, the Ioniq 5 was exposed to a wide variety of conditions: from icy cold and steep mountain roads in the Himalayas to the humid, warm coastal areas of Kerala. It produced some beautiful pictures. According to Hyundai, the car managed to adapt effortlessly:
Unsoo Kim, managing director of Hyundai Motor India, proudly said, “The performance of the Ioniq 5 under such extreme conditions shows what our technology is capable of. This record underscores our vision for e-mobility and our commitment to push boundaries.”

Range
Remarkably, the record was set with an Ioniq 5 equipped with the 72.6 kWh battery, good for a range of about 480 kilometers. Meanwhile, available in the Netherlands is the updated Ioniq 5, which offers a range of up to 570 kilometers thanks to a larger 84 kWh battery.
