Dacia Bigster will be a hit! – WALKAROUND
C-segment is booming!
Dacia is fully committed to the C-segment. With good reason. Annually, about 2.8 million units are sold in the C-segment in Europe. That is 23 percent of the total market. So the C-segment is a mega-segment. So the Dacia Bigster is expected to be a real hit. Expect a starting price of about 30,000 euros in the Netherlands.
Shoemaker, stick to your last
Shoemaker, stick to your last. Dacia is one of the few brands that firmly believes in that. No tomfoolery, just build a “normal” car that is useful to people. This is also reflected in Dacia’s lineup. Take the Spring, Sandero or Jogger, all affordable no-nonsense cars for everyone. Don’t forget the Duster, either. That Duster now gets a bigger brother, aptly named Bigster. A C-segment SUV. Later, Dacia will release two other models.
The Dacia Bigster is based on the Bigster Concept presented in January 2021. Since that car was so positively received, Dacia did not have the guts to make very many modifications. The Bigster is built on the CMF-B platform.
Dimensions Dacia Bigster
The Dacia Bigster is 4.57 meters long. That is 23 centimeters more compared to the Duster, but only two centimeters more than the Dacia Jogger. Furthermore, the car is 1.81 meters wide and 1.71 meters high (+5 centimeters compared to Duster. The wheelbase is not even that much larger: 2.70 meters for the Bigster and 2.66 meters for the Duster. A difference of four centimeters, in other words. The luggage space is a hefty 150 liters larger than the Duster, at 667 liters.

Durable edge
The Bigster also has a durable edge to it. The protective panels around the body – on the sides, wheel arches and the underside of the bumpers – are made of Starkle. This material was developed by Dacia engineers and made in part from recycled resources. It is also already used on the Duster. Starkle contains up to 20% recycled polypropylene and is used unpainted and unprocessed, ensuring a smaller carbon footprint during production. The protective panels on the underside of the body and wheel arches, as well as parts of the front and rear bumpers, are made of Starkle, which is recognizable by its speckled appearance. In total, the Bigster consists of almost 20% recycled plastic.
Wheels
The Bigster comes standard with 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels, with 19-inch wheels available as an option for the top trim Journey. For higher trims, a contrasting black roof can be chosen. Also new is the body color Indigo Blue. This metallic paint is exclusive to the Bigster.
Interior Dacia Bigster
In the Bigster’s interior, everything is focused on the essentials: space, ergonomics and comfort. All driving information is grouped on a 7-inch or 10-inch digital instrument panel (depending on trim), while multimedia system information is displayed on a 10.1-inch central touchscreen (standard on all Bigster models). A green line runs between the two screens, visually integrating them into the dashboard.
Different center consoles
Depending on the trim, the Bigster is equipped with three different types of front center console: normal (without armrest), normal with armrest or – for the first time at Dacia – a higher console with an armrest (with cooling compartment), an induction charger and generous storage space. You get those if you opt for the Hybrid 155.
Good finish
Cheap, the Bigster feels anything but. The car has a soundproof windshield and thicker glass for better acoustics. The model also has high-quality carpeting and LED interior lighting with touch controls. Adjustable lumbar support – including for the front passenger – has also been thought of, as well as an adjustable rear seatback. Dual-zone air conditioning with rear vent is available as an option.
Practical information Dacia Bigster
The car has a luggage space of up to 667 liters VDA under the luggage cover. The rear seat has a 40/20/40 layout. This allows you to still transport larger items well. With all backrests folded down, the Bigster offers a flat load floor with a maximum load length of 2.7 meters.
The Easy Fold feature makes it easy to fold down the rear seatbacks from the luggage compartment using two levers located to the left and right of the cargo area. An easy-to-clean rubber cargo floor mat provides protection for the floor of the cargo area. When not in use, the mat can be easily rolled up and stored away. This mat is standard with the Extreme model and optionally available for the other model versions.
Convenient button for ADAS
Driving assistance systems are there, too, of course. To make things easier, Dacia has combined these functions into a smart system called My Safety. This allows the driver to have certain ADAS systems switch directly to custom mode when starting, so they do not have to be manually set each time.
YouClip
The Bigster also features YouClip, Dacia’s accessory mounting system. The Bigster comes standard with five YouClip points: on the dashboard, on the side of the center console near the front passenger, on the rear of the center console, in the luggage compartment and on the side wall of the luggage compartment. Two additional YouClip attachment points are optionally available for the headrests.
YouClip attachment points can be used for a tablet holder, storage bag, phone holder with or without induction charger, clothes hanger or an ingenious 3-in-1 system that combines a cup holder, bag hook and portable flashlight. This system is standard on the Bigster Extreme. All YouClip-compatible accessories are available through the Dacia network.
Dacia with panoramic roof
A first for Dacia is the panoramic sunroof. It is 120 cm long and designed to open 35 cm with a tilt and swivel function. The roof is standard on the Extreme and optional on the Journey. The Bigster also comes with a power tailgate. That one has only one electric motor to keep costs down. Normally, such a flap has two electric motors.
Models and equipment Dacia Bigster
The Dacia Bigster comes to market in four different trims: Essential, Expression and two top trims. That is the Bigster Extreme, built for outdoor enthusiasts and it comes standard with a panoramic sunroof, the modular roof rails, Hill Descent Control, rubber mats and the 3-in-1 YouClip system. The Bigster Journey targets users who want to travel in style and offers standard features including a two-tone body (black roof), a power tailgate and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.

Engines Dacia Bigster
The Dacia Bigster enters the market with four different powertrains, namely the Hybrid 155, TCe 140 and ECO-G 140. Finally, there is a TCe 130 4×4. All powertrains have some form of electrification. A 100% electric Bigster is not in the cards. The platform is also suitable for PHEV, but Dacia is not doing anything with that for now.

Further explanation of four-wheel drive
The Dacia Bigster TCe 130 4×4 is equipped with a Terrain Control 4×4 drive system, with five driving modes:
- AUTO: The driveline automatically distributes torque between the front and rear axles depending on grip and speed.
- SNOW: Optimizes grip on slippery roads with specific settings for the ESC and traction control functions.
- MUD/SAND: For riding on loose surfaces such as muddy or sandy trails.
- OFF-ROAD: delivers the best off-road capabilities on difficult terrain and tracks. This mode automatically and efficiently distributes torque between the front and rear wheels depending on grip and speed.
- ECO: optimizes fuel consumption by adjusting air conditioning and vehicle performance. It refines the distribution of engine torque between the front and rear axles to reduce fuel consumption while adapting to grip conditions.
Hill Descent Control is standard on the Bigster Extreme. This system continuously adjusts the brakes for a controlled descent at an appropriate speed (depending on the speed selected by the driver) of between 0 and 30 mph. The system works in all gears, including reverse. The driver does not have to worry about the gas pedal or brake, only about steering.
