City Transformer CT-1: EV from 12,500 euros and with extendable wheels!
Production City Transformer CT-1 starts in 2024
The electric Carver, Opel Rocks-e, Renault Twizy or Biro are all examples of urban mobility solutions. City Transformer is happy to join this ranks with the striking CT-1. Production of the vehicle should start in 2024, but you can order one now with a refundable deposit of 150 euros. The CT-1 will have a price tag of 12,500 euros.
Extremely compact
The City Transformer CT-1 is extremely compact. It is only 2.5 meters long and 1.58 meters high. Its width depends on the position of the wheels. In City Mode it is only 1 meter, but in Performance Mode all the wheels slide out more, creating a track width of 1.4 meters. The system works with an extendable chassis that allows the driver to reduce the width to just 1 meter at the push of a button, ideal for parking in the city. The turning radius comes out to 8.5 meters.
City Mode and Performance Mode
In City Mode the top speed is limited at 45 km/h, but in Performance Mode this compact electric vehicle reaches a top of 90 km/h.
Performance figures
The sprint from 0 to 50 km/h takes only 5 seconds. That’s because the CT-1 is quite powerful for the type of vehicle. It has a system output of 15 kW, or 20.4 hp in conversion. Each rear wheel has its own 7.5 kW electric motor.
Range City Transformer CT-1
The range comes out to 120 to 180 kilometers, according to City Transformer, and charging the battery from 0 to 80 percent takes only 30 minutes. Without battery the CT-1 weighs 450 kilograms, with battery it is 590 kilograms. Like the Renault Twizy and Carver, you sit behind each other.
Cheap enough?
It is definitely an interesting vehicle, but the question is whether the price of 12,500 euros is cheap enough. On the other hand, the range of 180 kilometers – which the company says is quite realistic – is on the high side. And you instantly buy two vehicles in one: a 45 mph car for around town and a vehicle with a top speed of 90 mph.
