Cadillac Escalade IQ has 200 kWh large battery!

The price in the United States: $130,000. Then in Europe you can still count on a starting price below 140,000 euros. The future will have to tell. In any case, what you get is an ultra-luxurious family SUV equipped with every convenience. This was made possible in part for the innovative and modular EV architecture Ultium Platform. This platform enables application of GM’s Ultifi software platform. For that reason, this Cadillac Escalade IQ features various driving assistance systems and an infotainment system that is fully connected to the Internet.

What does this Cadillac Escalade IQ have to offer? Think 24-inch wheels and Adaptive Air Ride Suspension that allows the ride height to be lowered by 50 mm and raised by 25 mm. The car also has four-wheel steering, called Four-Wheel Steer by Cadillac. As a result, the turning radius is only 12 meters. Cadillac Arrival Mode is a unique Four-Wheel Steer feature that allows the Escalade IQ to move diagonally, making it easier to drive into or out of tight spaces.
Bizarrely large battery: 200 kWh
The new Cadillac Escalade IQ features an Ultium battery consisting of 24 modules. This provides more than 200 kWh of energy (lithium-ion NCMA cathode, mixed graphite anode). The battery pack supports 800-volt DC fast charging. With that, you rake in another 160 kilometers of driving range in just 10 minutes. The total range comes out to 720 kilometers. It also supports Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) so this Cadillac can also serve as a power bank for your home. Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) is also possible. In that case, this SUV can power other cars or equipment.
Up to 750 hp
The eAWD powertrain consists of two electric motors, together good for up to 750 hp and 1,064 Nm of pulling power. The 0-96 time is less than 5 seconds. The Escalade IQ also has features such as One-Pedal Driving and Variable Rain on Demand. So you can set the intensity of recuperation yourself. In addition, Ultium Energy Recovery – a thermal heat pump system – allows energy to be transferred between the battery/power electronics and the cabin. Super Cruise, what is that?
This electric SUV further has Super Cruise. What is it? According to Cadillac, Super Cruise is the industry’s first true hands-free driving assistance system that allows drivers to travel hands-free on more than 400,000 miles of roads in the United States and Canada. When Super Cruise is enabled, the vehicle’s LiDAR map data, real-time cameras, radars and GPS ensure the vehicle stays in the lane for a hands-free driving experience. These systems work together through “sensor fusion” to create a sensory field around the vehicle that helps keep the car in the center of the lane while increasing driver comfort and convenience. Super Cruise accelerates or decelerates the vehicle to maintain a selected following distance from a vehicle ahead and adjusts to maintain lane position. In addition, Super Cruise can perform both driver-initiated and system-initiated lane changes to pass slower traffic and move out of a lane that may be stopping. During those actions, the position of the driver’s head and/or eyes in relation to the road is controlled to attract the driver’s attention.

The Cadillac Escalade IQ further gets a tailgate that opens and closes automatically. All four doors open and close electrically at the push of a button. When activated, even the driver’s door opens automatically when the driver approaches with the key in his or her pocket. It also has a substantial frunk for extra storage space.
Interior Cadillac Escalade IQ
The interior looks modern and luxurious. First of all, we detect a 55-inch diagonal LED display. Computing power is provided by Qualcomm Technologies’ Snapdragon Cockpit Platform. Google services are built-in. In the back, your Caddy gets two 12.6-inch displays, if you choose the optional Executive Second-Row Seating package. Furthermore, this American full-size SUV is equipped with every convenience: seat massage, a comprehensive audio system, a hefty panoramic roof, USB-C charging points, HDMI ports, wireless phone charging capabilities and ambient lighting with 126 colors.
Weight?
In short: a treat for yourself. We do have our doubts about a 200 kWh battery pack. That means this Cadillac must be very heavy. But the American manufacturer is not yet making any statements about that. Regular production of the Escalade IQ will begin in the summer of 2024 at GM’s Factory ZERO Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly Center in Michigan. Starting in 2030, Cadillac will produce only battery-electric vehicles.
