BYD ATTO 2: an electric B-segment SUV

January 13, 2025

Dimensions BYD ATTO 2

The BYD ATTO 2 measures 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width and 1,675 mm in height – making it 145 mm shorter and 45 mm narrower than the ATTO 3. Thanks to its relatively long wheelbase of 2,620 mm, it offers plenty of interior space. The short front and rear overhangs improve maneuverability and enhance the SUV character.

At the front, the ATTO 2 features fully integrated LED headlights and sleek daytime running lights. Together with the continuous LED strip in the grille, this creates a strong visual appearance. The side of the ATTO 2 shows accents painted in body color. The “floating” roof also stands out, accentuated by a body-colored element at the C-pillar.

Möbiusring

The rear is characterized by a distinctive spoiler and a continuous light bar connected to taillights in the shape of a “Chinese knot. This light signature symbolizes the number 8 and a Möbius ring, representing endless happiness. The ATTO 2 comes standard in Climbing Grey, with Hiking Green, Skiing White and Cosmos Black as optional colors.

The center console contains two cup holders and an integrated armrest, which provides access to one of the many storage compartments. The gearshift has a diamond-like finish, while the surrounding (physical) button cluster contains essential functions, such as the window washer, audio system volume knob and a driving mode switch.

Luggage space

The boot of the ATTO 2 measures 400 liters – more than many conventional C-segment hatchbacks. The volume can be increased to a maximum of 1,340 liters by folding down the rear seats.

BYD Blade Battery

The new ATTO 2 uses the e-Platform 3.0, which is central to all of the company’s all-electric vehicles. The car features a Blade Battery and, for the first time in a BYD compact, uses Cell-to-Body (CTB) construction. In this technique, the battery is fully integrated into the vehicle chassis, with the top cover of the battery acting as a floor for the passenger compartment. The CTB technology is unique to BYD and is a first in the compact SUV segment. It maximizes interior space and body rigidity.

No cobalt

In addition, the Blade Battery uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) as its cathode material. LFP offers higher levels of safety and durability compared to conventional lithium-ion batteries, while being 100% free of cobalt and nickel. In addition, LFP batteries are more resistant to extreme temperatures, less sensitive to temperature fluctuations and can withstand more charge and discharge cycles with hardly any capacity loss, making them particularly durable.

Powertrains BYD ATTO 2

The ATTO 2 will be offered with a choice of two battery packs. At launch, the standard version will have a capacity of 45.1 kWh, giving a combined WLTP range of 312 kilometers. The front-mounted engine delivers 130 kW. Details of the larger battery pack as well as full specifications and extensive standard equipment will be shared in the coming weeks, simultaneously with the model’s European launch. Pricing will follow later.

B-segment SUV

Stella Li, Executive Vice President of BYD: “We are excited to begin 2025 with another important model for our plans in Europe. The B-segment SUV is incredibly popular here, and with the ATTO 2 we have a smooth-riding and versatile offering that will appeal to a wide potential customer base. It brings all of BYD’s strengths in batteries, electric motors and Cell-to-Body technology together in a compact package that brings new smart technologies to the urban SUV class.”
