Briefly in the Netherlands: Lancia’s new rally monster

September 13, 2024

A new start

Lancia was once unbeatable in rallying, with iconic models such as the Delta Integrale taking the brand to multiple championships.
To this day, Lancia is the most successful brand in the history of rallying.
Now Lancia is making a comeback, both on the asphalt with new passenger cars and on the dirt with a new rally monster: the Ypsilon Rally 4 HF.
The new rally car made a brief pit stop in the Netherlands, and none other than rally legend Miki Biasion was allowed to perform the unveiling.

Spicy

The Ypsilon Rally 4 HF is a rally version of the new Ypsilon.
It is not immediately intended to compete with the big names, but focuses on the Rally4 class; a class that is also suitable for rally drivers who want to make their first meters.

Under the hood is a spirited 1.2-liter turbocharged 156 kW (212 hp) engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Front-wheel drive and a mechanical limited slip differential provide a driving experience that is both challenging and accessible.
Miki Biasion personally helped tune the car, so you know this compact monster has some serious engineering going for it.
With his experience, he has provided advice for the tuning of the engine, suspension and brakes to ensure that the car feels perfect on the rally course.

Electric popping: the Ypsilon HF

But Lancia is not just sticking to gasoline: next May there will also be a 100% electric performance version, the Ypsilon HF.
This electric version for public roads has a lowered chassis and increased track width.
It boasts a whopping 206 kW (280 hp) and sprints to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds.

Comeback in the Netherlands

The standard version of the new Ypsilon – without the rally tweaks – is already driving around the Netherlands.
You can admire it in five new showrooms that Lancia has already opened this year in cities such as Amsterdam, Rotterdam and The Hague.
You can choose from a hybrid or electric Ypsilon.
