BMW confirms new-generation BMW X2, including iX2
New generation BMW X2
Oliver Zipse, Chairman of the Management Board of BMW AG, told the following at the BMW Group Annual Conference 2023: “I can officially confirm the arrival of a new generation BMW X2 and all-electric iX2.”
BMW iX2, built in Germany
Zipse continued: “This is BMW’s second BEV model in the compact class, aimed at high volumes. Like the iX1, we are building the iX2 in Germany, at our Regensburg plant. The car will be on the market by the end of 2023.”
Engines new BMW X2
BMW is expected to use the same engines in the new X2 that are now used in the X1. So count on a 245-hp xDrive25e plug-in hybrid, an xDrive30e PHEV with 326 hp, an sDrive20i gasoline with 170 hp, an xDrive23i gasoline with 218 hp, an xDrive20d diesel with 163 hp and an xDrive23d diesel with 211 hp.
BMW iX2, presumably as xDrive30
For the all-electric BMW iX2, we are betting on an iX2 xDrive30 with a system output of 313 hp, a 66.5 kWh battery and an estimated range of 410 to 440 kilometers (WLTP). Officially, these engine variants are not yet official. BMW will announce more information about the next-generation BMW X2 and the all-electric BMW iX2 later in 2023.
Neue Klasse vana 2025
Zipse: “Starting in 2025, BMW will introduce the Neue Klasse. Those vehicles should boost sales of our all-electric vehicles. We plan to bring at least six models to market within 24 months of the start of production.”
