Average purchase price of new passenger car 2022: that’s quite a shock
Average car purchase price: why are prices rising so fast?
The average purchase price of a new passenger car in the Netherlands has been rising for years. This is due in part to stricter government BPM rules in which CO2 emissions are increasingly fined higher. But it is also because more and more Dutch people are switching to electric cars. Those BEVs are generally a bit more expensive to buy than a gasoline or diesel car, and you notice that in the average purchase prices. In addition, raw materials have become more expensive/scarcity, causing prices to rise.
