Audi Q6 e-tron Offroad Concept

The Audi Q6 e-tron Offroad Concept is a preview of a potential new model in the growing offroad segment. A 160 mm increase in ride height and a track width grown by 250 mm contribute to its spectacular appearance.

Reinterpretation of Quattro

After an initial test drive, Audi CEO Gernot Döllner was enthusiastic: “The Audi Q6 e-tron Offroad Concept is a reinterpretation of Quattro. The study model underlines the potential that our all-electric car platform already has today. This car can literally and figuratively break new ground. We look forward to our customers’ reactions to this special study model.”

Slopes up to as much as 45 degrees

Whereas conventional portal axles allow for a torque increase at the wheels of about 20 to 30 percent, Audi’s study model goes a big step further with increased torque at the wheels of as much as 50 percent. Thanks to this technology, although the model’s top speed drops to 175 mph – more than adequate for an off-road vehicle – it can climb inclines as steep as 45 degrees.

Combined torque

The car has four portal axles developed from a blank sheet of paper and integrated into the wheel hubs of the front and rear axles. This required partial modification of the wishbone design. The portal axles increase combined peak torque at all wheels (by one to 10 seconds) to as much as 13,400 Nm, a total increase of 4,400 Nm over the Audi Q6 e-tron production model. Thus, Vorsprong by technology can be experienced to the maximum both on and off the road.

Premium Platform Electric

The Audi Q6 e-tron serves as the basis for the study model and is the first production model built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE). The Audi Q6 model series is distinguished not only by impressive driving and charging performance, but also sets new standards in terms of range and efficiency.
