A Skoda broke the world ice-driving record

The first record Škoda broke was that for the “Longest continuous drift on ice. On frozen Lake Stortjärnen, near Östersund in Sweden, driver Richard Meaden drove a four-wheel-drive, 299-horsepower Skoda Enyaq RS iV to set an official new world record by keeping the car in a controlled drift for more than 15 minutes and over a distance of 7.351 kilometers.

Previous record broken

In doing so, Skoda broke the previous record of 6.231 kilometers, which was clocked in China in 2022. With this new record, Meaden and Skoda also directly set a second Guinness World Record, that for the “Longest continuous drift on ice by an electric car.

16 minutes of continuous drifting

Skoda’s electric SUV drove over 39 laps around the 188-meter-long circular circuit, all in a time of 15 minutes and 58 seconds. The top speed during the record run was 48.69 km/h; the lowest recorded speed was clocked at 31.64 km/h.
