Dies ist auch die bei weitem meistverkaufte Karosserieform und die einzige, die f\u00fcr alle Modellgenerationen erh\u00e4ltlich war. Tats\u00e4chlich gab und gibt es die letzten vier Generationen nur als Limousinen. Im Laufe der Jahre gab es also auch andere Karosserieformen. Die Generation V20, die von 1986 bis 1992 produziert wurde, gab es zum Beispiel auch als Kombi.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Das gefleckte Exemplar<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Es ist lange her, dass wir in den Niederlanden einen Toyota Camry der V20-Generation gesehen haben. Deshalb haben wir uns gefreut, einen Fotostopp bei diesem Exemplar einzulegen, das wir im regnerischen Leiden entdeckt haben. Genauer gesagt handelt es sich hier um einen originalen niederl\u00e4ndischen Toyota Camry 2.0 XLi Station Wagon von 1987, der sich seit 2002 im Besitz seines jetzigen Besitzers befindet. Er pflegt ihn gut, denn abgesehen von den Klebebandresten an den Ecken der vorderen Sto\u00dfstange sieht er noch sehr sauber aus.<\/p>\n<p>Der 2.0 XLi war sozusagen das &#8218;Mittelmodell&#8216; der damaligen (niederl\u00e4ndischen) Toyota Camry-Reihe. Darunter waren noch der 1.8 XL und der 2.0 TD XL (ein Diesel), dar\u00fcber der 2.0 GLi und der 2.0 GXEi. Unter der Motorhaube hatte der gesichtete 2.0 XLi einen 2,0-Liter-Vierzylinder-Benzinmotor mit 94 kW (130 PS). Was die Motorleistung betrifft, so stammt der gesichtete Camry bereits aus der Zeit nach dem subtilen Update von 1987, denn davor leistete der Motor 89 kW (121 PS). Nach heutigen Ma\u00dfst\u00e4ben nicht viel, aber es reichte aus, um in knapp 10 Sekunden 100 km\/h zu erreichen. Immerhin wiegt der ger\u00e4umige Mittelklassewagen nur rund 1.200 kg. Dieser hatte ein etwas niedrigeres Dach und T\u00fcren ohne Fenstergitter. Au\u00dferdem fehlte das schmale Seitenfenster in der hinteren D-S\u00e4ule. Die Hardtop-Limousine wurde nur in Japan ausgeliefert, diente aber als Basis f\u00fcr den Lexus ES der ersten Generation, der unter anderem auch in Nordamerika ausgeliefert wurde.<\/p>\n<p>Eine marktspezifische Version des Toyota Camry V20 wurde auch in Australien ausgeliefert. Dort war das Auto n\u00e4mlich auch als&#8230; Holden Apollo erh\u00e4ltlich! Das war nur ein Camry mit anderen Logos darauf. Diese Rebadge-Variante mag unerwartet sein, aber in jenen Jahren arbeitete General Motors h\u00e4ufig mit Toyota zusammen. Das erste Nachfolgemodell war bereits 1990 fertig. F\u00fcr den japanischen Markt wurde dann die Generation V30 vorgestellt, die nur als Limousine und Hardtop-Limousine erh\u00e4ltlich ist. Eine weitere neue Generation des Toyota Camry, der XV10, folgte im Jahr 1991. Er war etwas gr\u00f6\u00dfer und l\u00e4utete eine neue Reihe von so genannten Gro\u00dfraummodellen ein. Der XV10 kam als Kombi zur\u00fcck und anstelle des Hardtops gab es ein zweit\u00fcriges Coup\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Auch in den folgenden Modellgenerationen blieb Toyota lange Zeit bei einem &#8222;narrow body&#8220; Toyota Camry f\u00fcr den japanischen Markt und einem &#8222;wide body&#8220; f\u00fcr die internationalen M\u00e4rkte. Das hat alles mit dem japanischen Kfz-Steuersystem zu tun, bei dem die Gr\u00f6\u00dfe des Fahrzeugs eine gro\u00dfe Rolle spielt. Im Jahr 2003 endete die Schmalspurbaureihe und wurde durch den Avensis, wie wir ihn auch in Europa kennen, abgel\u00f6st.
